The document below gives a summary and analysis of responses received to the A5 Dordon to Atherstone public consultation. Thank you to everyone who participated. All feedback is invaluable in helping us understand how the proposed options may affect road users and local communities.
Overall, the feedback shows high levels of dissatisfaction with current situation and a clear desire for change. However, there is limited support for the proposals. Option B was the preferred route overall, though many people expressed no preference or did not select a preferred option.
Many people expressed a desire for a bypass road north of Grendon either instead of, or before the proposed improvement works. While this is outside of the scope of this project, we have carefully documented this feedback and will consider it in assessments of the wider A5 corridor.
The feedback provided will now be considered alongside other factors, for example cost, environmental impact, engineering feasibility and objective fulfilment, to develop the proposals further. Should this scheme progress, further consultation will be undertaken on the detailed design.

We're considering options to improve the A5 between Dordon and Atherstone to deliver benefits for road users, the economy and local residents.
We're keen to hear your views and want to understand how the proposed options impact road users and the local community.
The consultation closes at 23:59pm on 27 October 2022.
It's important we receive your input before then as responses received after the consultation closes may not be considered.

What happens next
Once we have received the full range of responses to the consultation, National Highways will undertake a programme of analysis and produce a consultation report.
This report will summarise and consolidate the feedback we have received. We will make it available to the public once the consultation has concluded. Comments, concerns and expressions of support will be passed on to the project team and included as part of the ongoing project development.
