During our recent public engagement period, that ran from 28 June to 31 August 2017, we asked for views on Option 2 (the proposed scheme) as well as presenting a previously discounted option (Option 1 - standard lane widening). We held 10 Public Information Exhibitions throughout July and August and we want to thank everyone for their feedback which is now being taken into consideration in the scheme design.

The Public Information Exhibitions were attended by 750 members of the public over 10 days and 272 questionnaire responses were received by Highways England. 73% agreed or strongly agreed with the need for improvement on the A1 between Scotswood and North Brunton, while only 15% disagreed or strongly disagreed.

Overview

We are holding some public engagement events to inform customers about the scheme, the work we are doing and the progress to date.

The online survey will be open from Wednesday 28 June and close on Thursday 31 August. If you would prefer to complete a questionnaire by hand and post it to us, a version is available on the scheme webpage for you to print off and complete.

The public engagement events will begin on Monday 10 July and end on Friday 4 August 2017. The details are summarised below.
